Project Lead (Data Centres)

A leading European data centre delivery specialist is seeking an experienced Project Lead to take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of a major data centre project in Finland.
Reporting directly to the Project Director, this is a senior leadership role with full accountability for project performance across safety, programme, cost, quality, and client satisfaction. The position requires strong commercial awareness, technical expertise, and the ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
The Role
As Project Lead, you will oversee the project from early stages through to completion and handover, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall project cost, schedule, and budget from inception through to completion
- Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Analyse, track, and manage critical milestones to prevent delays and maintain programme certainty
- Review and assess construction proposals, scopes of work, and pricing
- Lead client meetings and key project coordination sessions
- Monitor and report on factors impacting construction costs, providing data-driven insights and recommendations
- Manage procurement strategies, including long-lead equipment and materials
- Review, validate, and audit cost estimates prepared by subcontractors and project stakeholders
- Support engineering and design decisions relating to cost and budget during design-and-build changes
- Track and verify equipment availability in line with the project schedule
- Coordinate with scheduling consultants and ensure integration with project controls
- Review and approve invoices, payment applications, and retention payments
- Manage project handover to the client, including close-out documentation, warranties, and final deliverables
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a senior project leadership role
- Proven ability to lead large teams and manage subcontractors on complex construction projects
- Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills
- Commercially astute with a solid understanding of project financial management and cost control
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant project management tools
- Able to perform under pressure while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and delivery
