Senior Software Developer

We are working with a major European institution delivering a high-profile digital transformation initiative within a secure and highly regulated environment.

They require a Senior Software Developer (Level 3) to join them on a consulting engagement, supporting the development of core systems within a large-scale programme.

This role will focus on designing, building, and delivering complex full-stack Java-based applications, while providing technical leadership and ensuring high-quality software delivery across the programme lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex software systems, including backend services and web applications

• Deliver full-stack solutions using Java frameworks (Spring Boot, Hibernate, Micronaut) and modern front-end technologies

• Develop scalable REST APIs and microservices, integrating databases and external systems

• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and optimisation

• Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes using cloud and container technologies

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring code quality and best practices

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on integration, architecture, and delivery planning

• Participate in workshops, planning sessions, and progress reporting activities

• Ensure software meets high standards of performance, security, and compliance

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in software development, with strong full-stack capabilities

• Deep expertise in Java development using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, or Micronaut

• Proven experience building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures

• Strong front-end development skills (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js)

• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)

• Solid understanding of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB

• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)

• Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Robot Framework, JUnit)

• Ability to lead technically, manage risks, and contribute to architectural decisions

• Excellent communication skills in English
