Network Engineer
Location: Bucharest, Romania (Hybrid)
Mission & Scope
The Network Engineer ensures the stability, scalability, and security of Ezugi’s global network infrastructure across multiple live casino studios and data centers.
This role combines hands-on configuration and maintenance of physical and virtual network equipment with project-based infrastructure development and expansion initiatives.
The Network Engineer plays a critical part in maintaining 24/7 uptime for live gaming environments, supporting both day-to-day operations and the company’s ongoing international expansion projects.
Core Responsibilities
A. Network Operations & Maintenance
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN gateways, QoS systems).
- Monitor network performance, system availability, and latency to ensure reliable production traffic flow.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks, system upgrades, firmware updates, and security patching.
- Troubleshoot L2/L3 issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure quick recovery for critical systems.
- Maintain stable connectivity between production environments, cloud systems (AWS), and remote studios.
- Document all configurations and network changes in internal repositories for traceability and audits.
- Support video streaming and dealer interface applications through optimal routing and bandwidth allocation.
- Manage and monitor VPN tunnels and internal routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, VLAN, STP).
B. Incident Response & Technical Support
- Provide Level 2/3 support for all network-related incidents and service interruptions.
- Act immediately when production studios or tables go down — intervene before tickets are even raised if needed.
- Coordinate with the Global TechOps and Tier 2 teams for root cause analysis and post-incident review.
- Open and manage support tickets in Jira for traceability and handover between shifts.
- Document troubleshooting steps and preventive measures for future reference.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours or critical maintenance activities.
C. Infrastructure Projects & Expansion
- Lead or support major network expansion projects in existing and new studios (Romania, Colombia, South Africa, etc.).
- Design and implement scalable infrastructure that aligns with internal network standards and Evolution Group’s global architecture.
- Collaborate with Project Management for hardware procurement, vendor coordination, and timeline alignment.
- Plan and install new network segments during studio construction or relocation (Academy P19, Expansion Studio, Sun City, etc.).
- Prepare configuration files, topology diagrams, and connectivity checklists before deployment.
- Supervise and validate contractor work to ensure compliance with Ezugi specifications and safety standards.
- Support TechOps teams with network setups for lighting controllers, audio systems (e.g., Dante audio network project), and camera configurations.
- Maintain documentation for all expansion projects, including schematics and vendor deliverables.
D. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with the TechOps team for on-site infrastructure improvements and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with Security for firewall rules, access control systems, and network segmentation.
- Partner with DevOps to ensure smooth communication between on-premise and cloud-based environments.
- Support Tier 2 and QA teams by ensuring stable network connections for video streaming and game engine testing.
- Communicate proactively with project managers and department heads regarding network readiness and dependencies.
E. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for all network topologies, configurations, and IP plans.
- Write and update SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for common incidents and configurations.
- Contribute to the internal knowledge base for Network and SRE teams.
- Participate in weekly team syncs to share updates on tickets, progress, and ongoing projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where necessary.
F. Continuous Improvement & Optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve network efficiency, redundancy, and monitoring.
- Participate in vendor evaluations and technology upgrades to ensure long-term scalability.
- Assist in implementing automation tools and scripts to reduce manual configuration.
- Ensure compliance with corporate security policies and industry best practices.
