Senior Manager – Virtual Assets Intelligence

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. CBUAE is responsible for enhancing monetary management, financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure and the adoption of digital technologies.

CBUAE is currently looking to hire a seasoned and highly motivated professional in Financial Intelligence Unit, who would be responsible to directly manage the FIU’s virtual asset intelligence operations, functioning as the tactical leader translating strategy into effective investigations. He/ She will allocate resources, ensure procedural and regulatory compliance, maintain analytical quality, and foster high-performance in the virtual asset team to advance the FIU’s mission.

Core Responsibilities

Operational Oversight & Team Leadership

• Supervise day-to-day operations, set analytical priorities, and manage case allocation for tracing illicit virtual asset flows and investigations.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory standards (FATF, UAE laws) and robust execution of virtual asset intelligence protocols.
• Oversee team performance, ensuring output quality, regulatory compliance, and timely case resolution.

Case Management & Quality Control

• Review and approve major casework and high-risk investigation outputs prior to external dissemination.
• Implement and refine SOPs, workflows, and knowledge management systems for the section.
• Report to Director on operational trends, metrics, risks, and resource needs.
• Submit a feedback report to the director on reporting quality and identify any gaps in VASP reporting obligations.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as primary contact for VASPs, regulators, and external partners on strategic and high-complexity matters.
• Coordinate interdepartmentally with Domestic/International Cooperation Sections on joint or complex cases.
• Conduct outreach and awareness sessions to FIUs stakeholders in both the public and private sectors, in coordination with the FIU outreach section.

Strategic Planning & Capacity Building

• Identify training and professional development needs; design and deliver targeted training for staff.
• Lead special projects, technical upgrades, and efficiency improvements in analytic processes.
• Perform any other duties outside the scope as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Advanced certification preferred.
• Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in AML/CFT or cyber/virtual asset investigations.
• Track record of multi-jurisdictional investigations involving virtual assets, VASPs, or blockchain analytics.
