Job Purpose


Head of Distribution is responsible for leading and managing the overall Retail Banking Distribution Network, including branches, sales channels, and distribution support functions. The role drives the strategic direction, performance, and profitability of retail distribution channels, ensuring effective customer acquisition, service delivery, and market expansion.


The position ensures alignment between Retail Banking strategy, branch performance, and channel optimization while maintaining high standards of governance, operational efficiency, and customer experience across the distribution network.


Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Development and execution of the Retail Distribution Strategy aligned with Retail Banking objectives.
  • Driving sales performance, customer acquisition, and revenue growth across the branch network.
  • Optimizing branch network footprint and multi-channel distribution.
  • Strengthening customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring strong governance, compliance, and Sharia adherence across all distribution activities.



Main Tasks & Accountabilities


Distribution Strategy & Business Growth


  • sustainable growth within Retail Banking.
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear distribution frameworks and execution plans across the branch network and sales channels.
  • Ensure alignment between distribution strategy, market opportunities, and overall Retail Banking objectives.
  • Continuously review and refine distribution approaches to ensure the organization remains competitive and responsive to market dynamics.


Channel Optimization & Network Management


  • Lead and oversee the activities of Retail Banking sales and distribution channels.
  • Ensure optimal utilization and coordination of distribution channels to support customer acquisition and service delivery.
  • Develop and execute the branch network strategy, including expansion, relocation, consolidation, or optimization of branches where required.
  • Monitor the overall effectiveness of the distribution network and identify opportunities to improve reach and efficiency.


Operational Effectiveness & Customer Experience


  • Coordinate initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency across distribution channels.
  • Promote a culture focused on service quality and continuous improvement in customer experience.
  • Support the implementation of initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and responsiveness of the distribution network.


Stakeholder Engagement & Governance


  • Strengthen relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support distribution effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards across distribution activities.
  • Facilitate coordination between distribution teams and other business units to ensure alignment between strategy and execution.


Leadership Responsibilities


  • Inspire and lead distribution teams towards high levels of performance and accountability.
  • Build and sustain a high-performing distribution organization through effective leadership and talent development.
  • Foster strong working relationships across the organization to support business objectives and collaboration.
  • Ensure that operational activities within the distribution network remain aligned with strategic priorities.


Education Level


  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration or related field


Professional Qualifications


  • Professional banking or leadership certifications (preferred)


Work Experience


  • Minimum 12–15 years of banking experience, with at least 8 years in Retail Banking distribution or sales leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in managing branch networks and multi-channel distribution.
  • Strong track record in retail sales growth, customer acquisition, and deposit mobilization.
  • Experience in strategic planning, distribution management, and business performance optimization.
  • Sound knowledge of Oman retail banking market and competitive landscape.
  • Knowledge of Islamic Banking and Sharia principles.
  • Good understanding of CBO regulations and Oman banking environment.
