Lead Product Designer (Smart TV and Video Broadcasting) (contract)

Please note this is a project based engagement, not an inhouse position. The social package in this case (vacation, days off, sick leaves, public holidays, equipment, accounting support) isn’t covered by Selecto.

Project Description: We are designing a flexible, scalable ecosystem of sports broadcasting platforms. We will design a Smart TV app, mobile app and website. The goal is to ensure a consistent and high-quality user experience across all digital touchpoints. The experience must serve a global, multilingual audience and perform reliably during major traffic spikes.

Domain: Broadcasting of sports events

What is expected: Design an ecosystem of platforms from scratch.

Team composition: Senior UX Designer, Senior UI Designer, UI Designer, Design Directors from the client’s side.

Engagement Duration: 6 months with a possibility of extension

Expected Working Hours: from 9 or 10 am Madrid time with a 1-hour break. Ideally, to involve a candidate who can occasionally travel to Madrid for onsite work with the client.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the design vision for a Smart TV and video broadcasting platform across various surfaces and device types.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a culture of craft and continuous improvement.
• Architect and own a scalable Design System built TV-first, extended to Web and Mobile.
• Partner with product and engineering to shape roadmaps and turn complex requirements into elegant solutions.
• Embed user research and insights into design decisions across the product.
• Establish design operations: contribution workflows, review processes, and documentation
• Travel periodically to Madrid to work on-site
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in Product, UX, or UI Design
• Proven experience designing Smart TV or large-screen interfaces
• Experience leading or mentoring a design team
• Strong expertise in building, scaling, and maintaining Design Systems
• Experience working on sports, media, or broadcasting digital products
• Strong systems thinking and component architecture skills
• Advanced proficiency in Figma (libraries, variables, components)
• Solid understanding of frontend implementation and developer collaboration
• Experience working on large-scale, multi-platform products
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
