Senior Java Software Developer : Trading firm : Geneva

Our client, a leading global trading firm, is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join its team in Geneva.

This is a key role within a multi-year greenfield programme to build a next-generation finance platform. The successful candidate will design and deliver high-performance financial systems that support core trading operations, working closely with finance stakeholders and senior leadership.

You will take ownership of end-to-end delivery—from gathering requirements through to deployment—while ensuring solutions are scalable, robust, and aligned with architectural best practices. The role also involves collaborating across global technology teams and mentoring junior developers within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build Java-based microservices and APIs supporting financial workflows (P&L, positions, cash flow)
• Lead full lifecycle delivery of Finance IT solutions
• Architect scalable, resilient distributed systems
• Own technical design, code quality, and peer reviews
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes
• Contribute to cloud adoption and platform modernisation (AWS)

Requirements

• 6+ years’ Java development experience (Java 11+)
• Expertise in Spring (Boot, Framework, Batch, Security)
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and messaging (Kafka/ActiveMQ)
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Python experience for data workflows or microservices

Desirable

• FastAPI/Flask, Spark, or ETL pipelines
• SQL and large-scale data handling
• ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and market data providers
