Data Scientist

As an experienced data scientist, you extract relevant insights from the amount of data available within Colruyt Group. You build machine learning models for our various retail brands. The result of your work: an even better, tailor-made service for our customers.

What will you do?

• Within the IT division Data & Analytics, you work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of data scientists, data science engineers, data analysts, BI engineers… Together, you provide analytical solutions for the various Colruyt Group brands, such as Okay, Bike Republic, Bio-Planet or Jims. Within the data science knowledge group, experiences and expertise are shared, allowing you to continue learning.
• As a data scientist, you collaborate with complementary colleagues on a wide range of projects, working with new techniques and technologies (e.g., Polars, LightGBM, PyTorch, UV, Kedro, Ruff). In addition, we also work with cutting-edge in-house technology, such as our own forecasting module or causality module. You are also encouraged to proactively explore new methods and techniques—in consultation with the team—to help expand the knowledge and skill set of the group.
• The team focuses on our internal customers, the business partners. We translate their needs into analytical solutions, which we develop in multidisciplinary teams. This results in close and direct collaboration with other IT teams and the business.
• We are responsible for identifying new analytics opportunities. We proactively search for insights that create added value for our partners. In doing so, we look not only at Colruyt Group, but also at external trends in analytical use cases and technological innovation.
• Colruyt Group consists of many different entities, which creates enormous variety and volume in both data and use cases. The projects you contribute to range from customer segmentation, sales forecasting, and analysis of in-store experiments to operational efficiency of machines, predictive maintenance, and optimal use of raw materials.

You work in Halle and can work from home up to two days per week.

Your Profile

• Experience – You hold a master’s degree in data science, business engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, … and you have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of statistical modelling – You have excellent knowledge of machine learning and statistical modelling and can implement these in Python. You have a good knowledge of SQL and data visualisation techniques.
• Analytical ability – You are capable of translating data into insights and communicating these clearly and concisely.
• Language skills – You have excellent command of English and a good knowledge of Dutch.

Als ervaren data scientist puur je relevante inzichten uit de grote hoeveelheid data waarover Colruyt Group beschikt. Je maakt machine learning modellen voor onze verschillende retailmerken. Het resultaat van jouw werk: een nog betere dienstverlening op maat van onze klanten.

Wat doe je concreet?

• In de IT divisie Data & Analytics werk je in een multidisciplinair team bestaande uit data scientists, data science engineers, data analysten, bi engineers… Samen bieden jullie analytische oplossingen aan voor de verschillende Colruyt Group merken, zoals Colruyt Laagste Prijs, Okay, Bike-Republic of Jims. • Als data scientist werk je samen met complementaire collega’s aan een brede waaier van projecten waarbij je in aanraking komt met nieuwe technieken en technologieën (bv: Polars, lightgbm, pytorch, uv, kedro, ruff). Daarnaast werken we ook met cutting edge in-house technologie zoals onze eigen forecast module of causaliteitsmodule. We moedigen je ook aan om zelf, in overleg met het team, op zoek te gaan naar nieuwe methoden en technieken en zo de kennis en skills van de groep te vergroten.
• Het team focust op onze interne klanten, de business-partners. We vertalen hun noden in analytische oplossingen die we bouwen in multidisciplinaire teams. Dat resulteert in een directe en nauwe samenwerking met andere IT teams en business.
• We zijn verantwoordelijk voor de identificatie van nieuwe analytics-opportuniteiten. We gaan proactief op zoek naar nieuwe inzichten die een toegevoegde waarde creëren voor onze partners. Daarbij kijken we uiteraard niet alleen naar Colruyt Group, maar volgen we ook de externe trends op het vlak van use cases rond analytics en technologische innovatie.
• Colruyt Group bestaat uit veel verschillende entiteiten. Dat zorgt voor een enorme variatie en hoeveelheid aan data én use cases. De projecten waar je aan meewerkt gaan dan ook van klantensegmentatie over verkoopsprognose en analyse van winkeltesten tot operationele efficiëntie van machines, predictive maintenance en optimaal gebruik van grondstoffen.

Je werkt in Halle en kan tot 2 dagen per week thuiswerken.

Jouw profiel:

• Ervaring – Je behaalde een master in data science, handelsingenieur, computerwetenschappen, statistiek, wiskunde,... Je hebt minstens 3 tot 5 jaar relevante ervaring.
• Kennis statistische modellering – Je hebt een uitstekende kennis van machine learning en statistische modellering en kan deze implementeren in Python. Je hebt een goede kennis van SQL en datavisualisatie-technieken.
• Analytisch vermogen – Je slaagt erin om data te vertalen naar inzichten en je kan die ook helder en duidelijk communiceren.
• Talenkennis – Je hebt een uitstekende kennis van het Engels en een goede kennis van het Nederlands.
