Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The work will take place in the molecular neurodegeneration group led by Boris Rogelj (https://www-b3.ijs.si/index.php/research/research-fields/neurodegeneration/) The origin and development of these diseases is still poorly understood and effective drugs are not known. The character of most neurodegenerations are insoluble protein aggregates that accumulate in nerve cells. Research is aimed at detecting the cause of TDP-43 or FUS aggregation and related molecular processes that are essential for understanding the disease process and developing innovative treatments (e.g. Malnar/Čerček et al., Nature Communications 2023; Motaln et al., Brain 2023; Božič/Motaln et al., Brain 2022.

Qualifications and requirements:

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, neurobiology, biomedicine or similar field
• Knowledge and experience in one/several of the fields: molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, RNA biology, interactomics, proteomics and transcriptomics.
• Strong laboratory skills and hands-on experience with experimental techniques and equipment
• Proficiency in research methods and practices, including a demonstrated ability to design and execute scientific projects.
• High motivation and consistency, responsibility, ability to work in a team as well as independence
• Proven track record of publications.
• Two references.
• Citizenship/permanent residence within EU.
• Proficiency in English
