Senior Backend Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to join a highly skilled consulting environment.

In this role, you will work on modern, custom-built systems, contributing across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and design through to implementation and delivery.

Projects vary, but typically involve building scalable backend solutions, often within cloud-based and microservices architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend systems using Java and/or Kotlin
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction
• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams
• Build scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions
• Share knowledge and support less experienced developers

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java and/or Kotlin
• Solid understanding of backend architecture and system design
• Experience with modern development practices (APIs, microservices, cloud)
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Fluent Norwegian strongly preferred and strong English skills

Preferred Experience

• Background in a consulting or client-facing environment
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Exposure to frontend technologies (e.g. React) is a plus
• Interest in best practices, clean code, and continuous improvement
