We are partnering with one of Australia’s leading financial institutions whose engineering teams are responsible for building and evolving highly scalable platforms that underpin core digital products.

This opportunity sits within a high impact engineering team responsible for designing and delivering mission critical APIs and backend services that enable new banking capabilities, digital products, and partner integrations. The environment combines large scale platform engineering with modern cloud native architecture.

This is an opportunity for a Senior PHP Engineer with strong API development experience to work across the full lifecycle of services and APIs, from design and architecture through to production and scale.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Design and build high quality APIs and backend services using PHP (Laravel or Symfony)

• Develop scalable services that power digital platforms and integrations

• Own the full engineering lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing optimisation

• Work closely with product, architecture and engineering teams to deliver new digital capabilities

• Ensure APIs are secure, reliable and built to handle high traffic production workloads

Your Experience

• 6+ years commercial experience with PHP

• Strong experience building APIs using Laravel or Symfony

• Experience designing and developing RESTful services and service oriented architectures

• Experience building scalable, performant backend systems

• Ideally experience working within banking, fintech or high traffic digital environments

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and business stakeholders
