Your Impact

As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will take end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of large-scale BESS projects (>100MW per project) across the Netherlands and Spain. Acting as the owner’s representative, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage EPC contractors and suppliers, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on specification, on time and within budget.

You will play a key role in executing a growing pipeline (>5GW), ensuring readiness for grid integration and commercial operation, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

What You Will Do

• Lead the full execution cycle of large-scale BESS construction projects with overall responsibility for safe, high-quality, on-time and on-budget delivery
• Provide leadership to project teams, EPC contractors and suppliers, ensuring alignment across engineering, construction, commissioning and asset management
• Manage all core project disciplines including planning, risk management, stakeholder management, HSSE, contract management, QA/QC, permitting and interface management
• Act as the client’s representative towards contractors, suppliers, grid operators, authorities and local stakeholders
• Oversee civil works, MV/HV installations, grid connections, power systems integration and commissioning activities
• Drive resolution of critical site and project issues to ensure continuity and performance
• Collaborate closely with finance, legal, procurement and commissioning teams to ensure cost control, contractual compliance and smooth project handover
• Deliver clear reporting and decision-making insights to senior management

Location & Travel

• Candidates can be based anywhere in the Netherlands or Spain
• Minimum 1 day per week in either the Amsterdam or Madrid office is required
• Regular travel to project sites is required:
• Spain: Bilbao region
• Netherlands: project sites across the country

What You Bring

• 15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years as Project Manager in construction projects within renewable energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
• Proven track record delivering complex, large-scale projects and managing EPC contractors and subcontractors
• Experience with BESS, high-voltage grid connections, substations, or power systems is highly desirable
• Strong expertise in contract management (e.g. FIDIC, EPC or comparable frameworks)
• Degree (BSc or MSc) in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and technical skills
• Ability to operate in an international, multidisciplinary environment
• Fluent in English (Dutch or Spanish is a plus)
• Willingness to travel frequently to project sites
