Staff Product Engineer, Backend (Node.js, Go)

Caddie is hiring on behalf of a fast growing, venture backed observability company that is redefining how developers interact with telemetry and AI driven tooling. This company is building an agentic AI platform for observability and is scaling rapidly across Europe.

We are looking for a Staff Product Engineer to lead the architectural vision of the backend, joining the Agent team responsible for an Agentic AI Platform for Observability. You will not just write code. You will own the technical roadmap, drive economic efficiency in data infrastructure, and mentor a team of high performing engineers.

Salary Range

$125,000 - $142,000 USD per year

• EU | Israel, Remote

• English fluency required

• In person interviews preferred in Germany or hiring manager can travel

• EMEA time zone collaboration required

The Challenge You'll Tackle:

• Master the runtime. You are not just writing Node.js. You sit at the intersection of agentic frameworks, code sandboxes, and application frameworks.
• Enable AI engineers. You partner closely with AI engineers optimizing agentic workflows and enable them with strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Security matters. The platform executes unknown and potentially unsafe code. You will evolve the security strategy to make it robust and efficient.
• Drive reliability and risk management. You own platform reliability, proactively identify risks, and foster a security first culture with strong monitoring practices.
• Provide mentorship and improve the process. You define standards for code quality, testing, and observability. You mentor engineers, review PRDs for feasibility, and simplify complex technical designs to align with product goals.

What Success Looks Like (and How You'll Get There):

• Within 1 week, you will have shipped your first production ready code.
• Within 3 months, you will be the go to engineering partner for AI engineers.
• Within 6 months, you will have established architectural patterns for agentic services and actively mentor engineers across distributed systems and observability.
• Within 12 months, you will be a technical authority for backend strategy, guiding the team through scaling challenges and shaping the roadmap by bridging technical constraints and customer needs.

• Is polyglot by necessity. You have deep experience with Node.js and strong proficiency in Go. You understand complex async debugging and build observable systems.
• Has strong interest in AI. You experiment, iterate, and adapt quickly in a rapidly evolving space.
• Expertly leverages AI and agentic coding tools to accelerate development, while applying strong technical judgment to own the final output.
• Has strong product and economic thinking. You collaborate with product teams to evaluate feasibility and resource efficiency.
• Is a natural mentor and cultural leader. You elevate team standards, improve processes, and foster psychological safety.
• Lives and breathes observability. You have deep expertise in OpenTelemetry and monitoring, and apply it internally and externally.
