Job Description
• Responsible for full lifecycle product development of heavy-duty commercial driveline systems (Rear Axle, Propeller shaft, Transmission and Power Take Off Auxiliary Units)
• Fully responsible with the design and release of related systems or internal components of these systems from scratch to serial production, considering system-level performance, durability, weight, cost, manufacturability and quality requirements.
• Responsible for design and development of drivetrain system sub-components like gear/shafts/bearing, sealing elements.
• Responsible for managing the cost, quality, weight, function of the system/component within program targets
• Responsible for generation of DFMEA, design verification plans (DVPs), engineering specifications (ES), system design specifications (SDS) and quality documentation of owned systems/components based on program requirements.
• Leads testing activities at internal & external testing facilities to achieve a robust engineering sign-off of the system. Process real field data and information to generate new test cycles if necessary.
• Analyze vehicle collected data to prepare duty cycles for all components and systems, analyze test results to sign off the products during validation periods.
• Plans and leads engineering design improvement activities to solve technical issues encountered in DV tests or in the real field by collaboration with different functional teams like CAD, CAE, purchasing, project management, plant manufacturing, calibration, and several suppliers.
• Using diagnostic and CAN tools to investigate problems on vehicles, network analyze, and root cause investigation based on signalization for both transmission applications and features like differential locks and power take off systems.
• Generates and executes comprehensive issue resolution work plans.
• Monitor and follow developments and innovations within Ford and/or automotive industry, look for opportunities to apply them to owned commodities.
Requirements
Design and release of mechanical systems and components by evaluation of final product overall performance and reliability against performance targets and quality metrics. Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering concepts including CAD and CAE, mechanics, GD&T, material science and manufacturing. Creativity and analytical skills for innovative technical issue resolution. Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
• BSc/MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related fields
• Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering concepts such as mechanics, dynamics, design and tolerancing (CAD and GD&T), analytical development tools (FEA, system modelling), material and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with structured problem resolution tools such as 6-sigma, 8D, 3L5W.
• Result oriented and willing to adapt changing environment rapidly
• Proactive approach and keen to adapt Agile working principles
• A good and motivated team player, but also well prepared to work self – governing
• Fluency in English to support international communications
