Job Title: Network Administrator

Job Type: 6-month contract (potential to convert to full-time permanent

Location: 100% Remote (MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada)

Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Supporting Asia Region)

Hours: 40 hours/week

Start Date: Immediate

Rate: $60/hr T4 OR $75/hr Inc.


Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Network Administrator to support and maintain a critical hybrid network environment following a recent organizational transition. With prior IT resources no longer in place, this role is essential to ensuring the network infrastructure remains stable, secure, and proactively managed at all times. This is a preventive, operations-focused role, where success is measured by maintaining uptime, minimizing risk exposure, and ensuring the network is never left unattended or reactive. The ideal candidate will bring strong L2 troubleshooting capabilities and hands-on experience across on-premises and cloud-based network environments.


Network Environment

  • Enterprise network spanning LAN, WAN, Data Center, and Azure Cloud
  • Hybrid infrastructure supporting global operations
  • Security-focused environment with emphasis on Zero Trust principles


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L2 network administration and support across on-prem and Azure environments
  • Perform proactive monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization of network infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity, routing, and performance issues
  • Administer and support Cisco networking equipment (switching, routing, wireless)
  • Manage and maintain Fortinet firewalls, including VPN configurations and security policies
  • Support Azure networking components, including virtual networks (VNets)
  • Ensure adherence to security best practices, including Zero Trust frameworks
  • Monitor network health using existing tools and identify risks before they impact operations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technical teams to maintain continuity and performance
  • Document configurations, processes, and incident resolutions


Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in network administration within enterprise environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies (routing, switching, wireless)
  • Proven experience managing Fortinet firewalls, including NGFW and VPN configurations
  • Experience supporting Azure networking (VNets, hybrid connectivity)
  • Solid understanding of core networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs)
  • Strong L2 troubleshooting skills across network infrastructure
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (Netgear or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Zero Trust security principles
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote, globally distributed environment


Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Network+
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale hybrid cloud environments
  • Familiarity with network automation or scripting


Key Focus of the Role

This position is centered on preventive network management and continuous monitoring. The successful candidate will ensure the network environment remains stable, secure, and fully operational at all times, with a strong emphasis on proactive maintenance, zero-day risk mitigation, and avoiding reactive support scenarios.
