We are working with an insurance business building out a Data & AI function focused on delivering LLM driven underwriting systems.

The team is developing software that can extract, interpret and communicate complex insurance data in near real time, with a focus on significantly reducing processing time across underwriting workflows. These systems are being built for production use, not experimentation.

This role sits at the centre of that platform. You will be responsible not just for building backend services, but for how they are deployed, managed and scaled. Engineers in this team own infrastructure and delivery end to end, including Terraform and CI/CD, working closely with data and AI teams to bring LLM driven functionality into production.

The Role

You will join a small Python team and take ownership of how systems are built, deployed and maintained.

• Build and own Python microservices and APIs used in production
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform
• Own CI/CD pipelines and improve release processes
• Work across distributed, asynchronous systems
• Integrate LLM driven functionality into backend services
• Contribute to system design and raise engineering standards across the team

What They Are Looking For

• 6+ years Python backend development
• Strong experience building and owning APIs and services in production
• Proven Terraform experience (must be hands on)
• Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Solid understanding of distributed systems
• Cloud experience (Azure preferred)

Exposure to AI, LLMs or similar tooling is beneficial but not essential.
