We are seeking experienced and strategic Cyber Security Analysts to join our Cyber Security teams and play a critical role in protecting the ATO from evolving and sophisticated cyber threats.
These roles combine analytical and technical responsibilities, with a focus on monitoring, detecting, analysing and responding to cyber security risks and incidents.
As a APS6 Cyber Security Analyst, you will protect the ATO’s people, information, assets and services by applying cyber security controls, analysing complex threats and vulnerabilities, and contributing to the effective operation and enhancement of security systems and processes under the guidance of senior cyber specialists.
You will work closely with other cyber security staff, IT teams and business areas to undertake more complex investigations of security events, support risk and system authorisation activities, and implement security controls in accordance with government and industry frameworks. You’ll contribute to incident response activities, threat intelligence and vulnerability analysis, and the ongoing improvement of detection and response capabilities. You’ll help embed security practices across systems and services by identifying issues, recommending practical mitigations, and supporting remediation activities.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of technical procedures and playbooks, support audit, assurance and compliance activities, and assist in evaluating new tools, technologies and techniques to improve cyber security outcomes. You’ll support capability uplift initiatives by contributing to cyber security strategies, frameworks and roadmaps, and by identifying opportunities to improve controls, processes and tooling. You’ll also work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, share knowledge within the team, and contribute to secure, reliable and client‑focused outcomes.

- Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst (Brisbane CBD, Canberra and Melbourne CBD only)
- Cyber Penetration Tester (Canberra and Melbourne CBD only)
- Cyber Engineer
- Threat Hunter and Detection Engineer

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Burnie, Canberra, Dandenong, Melbourne CBD, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney CBD, Townsville or Wollongong.
