What you need to be eligibility

To be eligible for our 2027 Graduate Program, you need to:

  • have Graduated by the end of the 2026 academic year (offers will be subject to graduation and transcript verification)
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
  • be prepared to commence full-time employment in February 2027 located within Melbourne
  • Suited to graduates from Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, or quantitative disciplines within Commerce, Mathematics, or Computer Science, who are motivated, autonomous, deeply interested in data, and eager to learn in a practical, hands‑on environment.

About the role

  • Build and engineer datasets from scratch—sourcing data, cleaning and preparing it for use, designing new ways to connect information, and contributing to in‑house forecasting models that predict future network needs.
  • Apply analytical thinking, curiosity, and creativity to explore complex questions, work through previously unexamined data problems, and progress a wide range of high‑value “laundry list” projects that expand the team’s knowledge base.
  • Work comfortably with large datasets and modelling concepts, ideally bringing experience in R, SQL, or other analytical tools (Python and Power BI a bonus), while developing practical skills through exposure to real engineering and regulatory use‑cases.
  • Communicate insights clearly—supported through observation-based learning—translating technical findings into meaningful inputs for engineers, pricing specialists, policy teams, and other stakeholders.

About AusNet

At AusNet, we bring the energy – through purpose and people. Not just through the infrastructure we operate, but through the way we show up for each other, our customers and communities.

With over $13 billion in assets, we operate electricity and gas distribution networks, Victoria’s electricity transmission network, and contracted energy infrastructure that supports community energy hubs and solar mini-grids.

Australia is undergoing a once-in-a-generation energy transition, and we’re solving the complex challenges that will define the future of clean, reliable energy.

The future of energy is in our hands. Let’s shape it together.
