As a Python Backend Engineer in our Live team, you'll specialize in audio streaming to help deliver seamless, high-quality financial intelligence to our users.

About the teamQuartr's Live team processes thousands of hours of live and recorded audio from events, delivering scalable, high-performance solutions that enable seamless streaming and data delivery. By joining this team, you'll have the opportunity to tackle complex challenges in audio processing and data acquisition.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable audio streaming pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance across Quartr's platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance backend infrastructure for a flawless, user-centred streaming experience
• Develop and optimise solutions for processing live and recorded audio data efficiently
• Participate in ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and real-time availability to end users

Technical requirements

• 2+ years of professional backend experience with Python, or a strong portfolio demonstrating equivalent depth
• Strong Python fundamentals – async patterns, clean architecture, production-grade code
• Hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, EC2, S3) and Docker in a real operational context
• Understanding of how networked systems behave under real conditions – not just the happy path
  
  

Preferred Technical Skills

• Any exposure to audio, media, or streaming – even hobby or side project level
• Familiarity with protocols and networking concepts (HTTP, TCP, CDNs)
• Background in data formats, binary I/O, or low-level debugging
• Experience bridging Python and C libraries – ctypes, cffi, or writing C extensions
