The client is driving digital transformation to deliver modern, efficient, and citizen-centered services.

The Digital Design and Delivery Division (DDD) leads this effort using:

  • Agile methodologies
  • Human-centered design
  • Modern data practices

The team is seeking two Scrum Masters to support service innovation, program reviews, and digital transformation initiatives across multiple ministries.

Role Overview

The Scrum Master will work with cross-functional teams to deliver digital products and services. This role focuses on:

  • Facilitating Agile processes
  • Removing blockers
  • Coaching teams and product owners
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of sprint goals

You will work across 2–3 concurrent projects, collaborating closely with product owners, designers, and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Leadership & Coaching

  • Coach teams on Agile principles, practices, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor teams to become self-organizing and high-performing
  • Guide product owners on backlog management, release planning, and roadmaps

Agile Delivery

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, refinements)
  • Support sprint execution and ensure alignment with goals
  • Remove blockers and manage dependencies

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between product owners and delivery teams
  • Promote transparency and effective communication
  • Resolve conflicts and align stakeholders

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and report delivery metrics (velocity, burndown, backlog progress)
  • Maintain Agile artifacts (product backlog, sprint backlog, etc.)
  • Provide progress updates to stakeholders

Service Design Participation

  • Contribute to user research and usability testing
  • Support digital service delivery activities

Deliverables

  • Sprint planning and execution outcomes
  • Agile artifacts (backlogs, velocity charts, reports)
  • Regular progress and performance reports
  • Continuous improvement of team delivery

Mandatory Requirements

Certification

  • Active Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent

Experience

  • 5+ years working in Agile environments
  • 4+ years facilitating Agile ceremonies
  • 2+ years coaching teams on Agile methodologies

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in public sector or government projects
  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with UX/design-driven teams
  • Experience delivering virtual training (e.g., MS Teams)
  • Familiarity with AI tools in Agile environments
  • Experience aligning work with product owner priorities
  • Knowledge of software development best practice.

Work Requirements

  • Must work from within Canada
  • Primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings (no travel reimbursement)
  • May require working across multiple projects simultaneously
