Senior Developer

Our client is a global leader in financial technology, driving innovation through AI-first transformation and next-generation payment platforms. They are focused on building scalable, cloud-native systems that power millions of transactions worldwide.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing team working on modern, event-driven payment systems.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and modernising distributed systems, while also contributing to the adoption of AI-driven engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build high-quality microservices and event-driven architectures
• Lead modernisation of legacy systems using best practices (DDD, refactoring patterns)
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Data & AI teams
• Implement cloud-native solutions (AWS, Kubernetes, containerisation)
• Drive engineering excellence through testing, resilience, and performance optimisation
• Improve developer experience via CI/CD, automation, and AI-enabled tooling
• Mentor engineers and promote AI-assisted development practices
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and security in regulated environments

Requirements

• Strong experience in Java development (enterprise level)
• Proven background in distributed systems / microservices architecture
• Hands-on experience with AWS (or similar cloud platforms)
• Experience with Kubernetes / containerised environments
• Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka or similar)
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and observability tools
• Experience working in highly regulated environments

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot)
• Exposure to machine learning / LLM-enabled applications
• Experience in payments / fintech domain
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code / policy-as-code
