Overview

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated cybersecurity-focused intern to join our team in designing, deploying, and monitoring our cutting-edge cyber lab in Luxembourg. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity, robotics, and PLC reverse engineering, emphasizing the integration and cybersecurity of these advanced systems.

Key Activities

  • Collaborate with our cyber research team to architect and implement a state-of-the-art cyber lab environment. This includes setting up virtual and physical infrastructure that simulates real-world OT and supports robotic solutions, providing a robust platform for experimentation and learning.
  • Applied cybersecurity research to protect both OT and robotic systems. This includes configuring network segmentation, hardening systems, and implementing secure authentication mechanisms to safeguard against unauthorized access and threats.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system architectures, configurations, and experimental results. Prepare technical reports to present findings and provide recommendations for enhancing system security.

Qualifications

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience of networking concepts, including IP addressing, VLANs, and routing, as well as familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and vulnerability scanners. Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation and security tasks.
  • Ability to correlate events, identify potential vulnerabilities, and devise innovative solutions and insights to enhance cybersecurity.
  • Nice to have: basic knowledge of OT protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profinet, DeviceNet, etc.) and an interest in robotics, particularly in how these systems can be integrated securely.
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong skills in writing reports, documentation, and emails clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborate on projects, and contribute to group discussions. Willingness to learn from others and share knowledge.
  • Ensuring that work is completed accurately and errors are minimized.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning new technologies, tools, and methodologies. Keeping abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.

This internship is an excellent opportunity for a student passionate about cybersecurity and its application in modern OT, robotics, and embedded system environments. By joining our team, you will contribute to pioneering projects that safeguard critical systems and explore mitigation strategies that matter to FM and its clients.
