Senior Software Engineer (AI and Machine Learning)

Dentsply Sirona is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in AI product development. The candidate will join the Machine Learning Engineering (MLE) team, which builds and maintains infrastructure around the AI models used in our cloud-based solutions.

This role offers the opportunity to deliver products to customers on Dentsply Sirona’s platform and contribute to our mission: to transform dentistry and improve oral health globally.

This role will be based in Zurich, with the option of hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML projects, ensuring robust and scalable deployment of machine learning solutions
• Design and implement advanced AI/ML architectures and pipelines
• Optimize model performance and manage large-scale data processing
• Collaborate with AI/ML scientists to translate research into production-ready systems
• Automate model training, evaluation, and deployment workflows
• Manage high-impact AI projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility
• Partner with leadership and product teams to drive AI adoption and innovation
• Mentor junior AI/ML engineers, promote technical excellence and serve as a source of expertise in machine learning engineering
• Support product owners in refining user stories and defining acceptance criteria
• Work with software architects and other teams to integrate ML models into production systems
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure high-quality standards
• Participate in interview processes and contribute to hiring decisions
• Stay current with state-of-the-art technology and best practices in software engineering
  
  

Qualifications

Education

Master’s in AI, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Years And Type Of Experience

• 4 to 6 years of software engineering experience
• Experience with complex technical projects across teams and cross-funcational collaboration
• Experience with AI system design and architecture
• Experience with scalable machine learning deployment
• Experience with MLOps and automation
• Experience mentoring engineers
• Experience in medical device development is a plus
• Experience building end-to-end systems as a software engineer (or equivalent)
• Experience in one of the ML model development libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
