Company Description
Groundswell is an early-stage startup with a lean, passionate team focused on building meaningful products with real-world impact. We believe great work happens when talented people are trusted, empowered, and given real ownership—and when they enjoy the ride together.
Our culture is values-driven, fast-moving, and highly autonomous. We tackle hard problems, learn quickly, and operate without unnecessary process, politics, or red tape. This is not a place for people who need constant direction or guaranteed outcomes—it’s a place for builders who want more than the status quo.
We value growth through learning, impact, and ownership, not just titles or org charts. We offer competitive compensation and meaningful equity, and we’re looking for people who want to help shape the product, the company, and the future of the space.
Groundswell is at a pivotal moment of growth, with strong momentum and a clear vision. If you want to look back and say “I helped build that,” not just “I worked there,” you’ll feel at home here.
Role Description
We’re hiring a Product Manager to help build and scale our product alongside a small, experienced and ambitious team. We'd love someone based in Los Angeles and interested in spending a couple days per week in our El Segundo office, but will also consider remote US-based candidates.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll be responsible for driving product areas from early problem definition through delivery and iteration. You’ll spend time both shaping what we build and making sure it gets built well—moving quickly while maintaining a high bar for quality.
You’ll work closely with engineering, design, and go-to-market partners to deliver product that is thoughtful, reliable, and useful in real-world workflows. We operate with urgency, so you should be comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and keeping work moving without over-processing. Success in this role comes from strong judgment, follow-through, and a willingness to step in wherever needed to move things forward.
What you'll do
- Be a part of an exceptional R&D team to discover, design and build a product that works across three distinct user groups—employees, company administrators, and nonprofit partners—each with different needs and workflows
- Own product areas end-to-end, from discovery through launch and iteration
- Translate ambiguous problems into clear plans, priorities, and shipped product
- Balance the needs of enterprise prospects with improvements that make the product easier and more effective for existing users
- Collaborate with Engineering team to understand technical architecture and product domains to aid in prioritization, dependency mapping, and execution
- Partner closely with Design to both shape solutions during the build process and develop customer research that uncovers where current solutions fall short and why
- Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment between product decisions and customer needs
- Develop a strong understanding of product workflows, systems, and dependencies
- Drive execution—removing blockers, making tradeoffs, and keeping work moving
- Contribute to roadmap planning and help maintain focus on highest-impact work
- Stay on top of industry trends
Qualifications
- 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in SaaS
- Strong understanding of how software is built and delivered in practice
- Proven ability to own and ship complex product areas with multiple stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, low-process environment
- High ownership and accountability for outcomes
- Strong communication skills and sound product judgment
- Ability to operate at both a high level and in the details when needed
- Commitment to bettering the world in the work you do everyday
What matters here
- You take initiative and follow through without needing close direction
- You’re comfortable working across different functions and perspectives
- You focus on outcomes and make pragmatic decisions to get there
- You’re willing to do the unglamorous work required to ship great product
- You care about building something that works well in practice, not just in theory
The base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000. In addition, this role is eligible for equity, and benefits. Final compensation will be based on experience, interview performance, and market benchmarks.
