Senior Cloud API Engineer (GCP)

Contract: 12 months (subject to extension).

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Salary: Not a constraint for the right candidate!

Your Profile & DNA:

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud API Engineer to join our team and build secure, scalable, cloud-native APIs on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of API engineering, cloud architecture, and AI-driven integrations, enabling solutions used by internal platforms, front-end applications, and emerging AI agents.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and develop secure, cloud-native APIs on GCP
• Build APIs for AI agents, internal systems, and customer-facing applications
• Enable integrations for AI-driven WhatsApp workflows across multiple countries
• Implement API-level security, entitlements, and access control
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to align with enterprise standards
• Contribute to improving our internal platform and DevSecOps practices

Qualification & Experience

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent.
• Strong experience with GCP (cloud-native / serverless development)
• Proven track record in API design and development
• Experience with Apigee (or Apigee X) and Pub/Sub
• Proficiency in:

Node.js / TypeScript and/or

Python (FastAPI is a plus)

• Solid understanding of OpenAPI, OAuth2, and OIDC
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD and DevSecOps practices

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI-driven or automation use cases
• Exposure to multi-region / global deployments
• Background in microservices and serverless architectures
