We have a unique opportunity for you to join our Capacity Management team within Connectivity, which provides the network infrastructure across 55 countries. Your role will be to support leadership and drive improvements to network capacity management within Connectivity and to ensure that once those improvements have been made that the ongoing processes are used and followed to the appropriate standard and maturity. The vision for this role is that it leads to network capacity being managed such that actions to are taken to address issues before they become incidents. Other duties will be to constantly look at improvements to our services and processes, using data analysis to allow us to be more proactive to fault identification going forward. This role will allow you to really make a difference to the stability of our infrastructures and services we provide to our businesses.
What you’ll do:
- Primary responsibility is to drive the improvement of capacity management within Connectivity to meet internal control requirements
- Ensure that capacity management activities in Connectivity are balanced such that they are prioritised based on risk to service, effort involved to complete and the cost of completion (including Total Cost of Ownership considerations)
- Represent Connectivity on the Client’s Capacity Management Community of Practice forum.
- Determine sources of measures of business demand that drive capacity consumption for key products within Connectivity
- Quantify the relationship between business demand and capacity consumption
- Ensure that all changes that have impact on network infrastructure are assessed by Architects in Connectivity
- Work with business areas to ensure that all programmes/projects/changes engage with the Connectivity Front Door process (not just those that have identified a need for Connectivity to support them)
- Prioritise efforts such that infrastructure service outages and repeat failures are reduced
- Ensure global capacity management standards are set and adhered to
- Using Continuous Improvement Methodology, work to improve the services we provide with the domains and vendors.
What you need to have to succeed in this role:
- Experience in working with and/or building large scale resilient network environments
- An understanding of network resilience principles
- A capacity management background, ideally in a network environment – the resources in scope include network bandwidth, ports, routers, firewalls, servers, etc.
- Strong numerical skills
- Experience of working to ITIL standards/frameworks
- An understanding of how capacity consumption affects performance
- Ownership – a passion for gaining outcomes (i.e. not task driven)
- A passion for challenging the reason why – and the willingness to be challenged
- Ability to engage and collaborate with multiple teams
- A drive to search for complex problems to solve and an ability to learn through solving them
- Strong drive to improve the services we provide.
