Frontend / Full Stack Engineer – Newsroom Platforms (React, Node.js)

Work Setting: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote, 45h/week)

Overview

This role blends frontend and full stack engineering, working closely with journalists, product teams, and engineers to deliver high-performance, reliable applications in a dynamic media environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance web applications
• Build and maintain solutions using JavaScript, React, and Node.js
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including journalists and product stakeholders
• Contribute to technical direction, tools, and engineering best practices
• Gather and translate requirements into effective technical solutions
• Champion automation and process optimisation to improve delivery speed
• Participate in agile ceremonies including planning, estimation, and refinement
• Ensure applications meet standards for performance, security, and resilience

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with JavaScript, React, and Node.js
• Solid understanding of web architecture, scalability, and performance optimisation
• Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. CircleCI) and containerisation (Docker)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of testing frameworks (e.g. Cypress, Playwright)
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB) is a plus
• Comfortable working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban)
