Position Summary

The Canadian Football League (CFL) is seeking a Coordinator, Health & Safety to support the League’s Health & Safety portfolio on an 8-month contract basis. This role will contribute to the continued advancement of the League’s data-driven approach to player health, safety, and performance sustainability.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Health & Safety and Football Operations, the Coordinator will support injury surveillance, data integrity, policy compliance, and operational execution, with a focus on improving player availability and strengthening league-wide standards.

Key Responsbilities

Injury Data & Reporting

  • Support the collection, validation, and auditing of injury data across all CFL Clubs.
  • Maintain data integrity within the League’s EMR and reporting systems (e.g., HeadCheck or equivalent platforms).
  • Assist in the preparation of regular injury surveillance reports, including KPIs such as Player Games Lost (PGL), incidence rates, and longitudinal trends.
  • Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or anomalies in data and coordinate with Clubs to resolve discrepancies.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Track and monitor Club compliance with League health and safety policies (e.g., certification requirements, reporting timelines).
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails aligned with medical-legal standards.
  • Support the execution of league-wide compliance initiatives and reporting.

Research & Performance Tracking

  • Contribute to ongoing research initiatives related to injury prevention, equipment, and workload management.
  • Assist in synthesizing internal and external research into actionable insights.
  • Support analysis of rule changes and operational adjustments on player health, workload, and availability.

Operational Support

  • Assist in the planning and execution of Health & Safety programs, including:
    • Annual Medical Meetings
    • Training camp education sessions
    • In-season operational processes (e.g., injury spotter program coordination)
Strategic Project Support

  • Provide coordination support for key Health & Safety initiatives (e.g., GPS implementation, EMR enhancements, policy updates)
  • Develop trackers, dashboards, and internal tools to improve visibility into health and safety metrics
  • Support ongoing enhancements to League health and safety infrastructure

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships included) in sport science, health analytics, or a related environment.
  • Certification with the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel or similar data tools (experience with visualization tools is an asset).
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage and audit complex datasets.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with medical professionals, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in professional or high-performance sport.
  • Familiarity with injury surveillance systems or EMRs.
  • Understanding of sport-related health and safety protocols.
  • Exposure to research methods or applied data analysis.

Expected Compensation

The expected compensation range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000, which includes base pay plus bonuses and variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position and should serve simply as a guide. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors such as candidate experience, skills, budget, location. Compensation will be prorated based on the duration of the contract.

Other Considerations

Hybrid Model: The incumbent will be required to attend the office in accordance with the CFL Hybrid Work Policy. In addition, you are required to attend meetings and other business events at the office or other venues as business needs dictate.

Work Schedule: Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.

Travel: As required.
