Network Security Engineer

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Network Security Engineer for an 8-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location

The successful candidate will be required to work 3x/week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, ON.

Key Tasks

• Identify and validate application communication flows with stakeholders
• Analyze firewall logs and traffic patterns to confirm application behavior
• Document application dependencies (endpoints, ports, protocols, services)
• Translate requirements into firewall policies and rule sets (Check Point)
• Implement, test, and troubleshoot firewall rules to support secure migration
• Maintain documentation and provide regular status reporting on progress and issues

Key Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Check Point Security Gateways (MDS, Smart Console, GAIA R81+)
• Strong expertise in network security, firewall policy design, and implementation
• Proven ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot complex network/security issues in production environments

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret network diagrams and security architectures
• Experience configuring NAT, routing, and firewall policies
• Strong understanding of network segmentation and zoning principles
• Experience with Check Point log analysis tools (SmartView / Log Server)
• Ability to debug connectivity and performance issues
• Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills

Assets

• Experience with Radware Alteon Load Balancers
• Familiarity with APSolute Vision
• Knowledge of L4/L7 load balancing concepts
• Experience with load balancer and proxy configuration and optimization

Hourly Rate Negotiable
