About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage and premiums. This role requires a thorough understanding of insurance policies, risk management principles, and industry regulations. The Underwriter will collaborate closely with sales teams, brokers, and clients to ensure accurate and efficient policy issuance while maintaining profitability and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the overall success and growth of our insurance operations.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. Prior experience in insurance underwriting or risk assessment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of insurance policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements is essential. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills are required to evaluate complex data and make sound decisions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are vital for collaborating with internal teams and external clients. Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite is expected. A professional certification such as Chartered Insurance Underwriter (CIU) or similar designation will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate insurance applications to determine risk levels and coverage eligibility.
• Assess applicant information, including financials, claims history, and other relevant data to establish appropriate premiums.
• Develop and recommend underwriting strategies that align with company policies and risk appetite.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to clarify policy details and address underwriting concerns.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, market trends, and emerging risks.
• Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with legal standards and internal policies.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for each underwriting case to support decision-making and audits.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance underwriting skills and industry knowledge.
• Assist in the development of new insurance products and services based on market analysis and client needs.
