Position Summary


WCM-Q is engaged in complementing Qatar’s pioneering initiatives to implement Population Precision Health approaches towards achieving the objective of scientific wellness in a broad swath of the Qatari population. We are seeking an innovative group leader who will develop and deploy computational and/or machine learning methods to advance these objectives and drive collaborative efforts in Qatar.

In a pioneering international initiative, Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College established Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2001 through a unique partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. WCM-Q and Weill Cornell Medicine in New York share the same mission: to provide the finest education possible for medical students, conduct research at the cutting edge of knowledge, improve health care, both now and for future generations, and provide the highest quality of care to the community. Job Responsibilities


  • Develop and deploy advanced computational and machine‑learning methods to support research and analytical initiatives across the organization.
  • Design, implement, and lead new research programs and collaborations, leveraging existing multi‑omic, clinical, and epidemiological datasets in partnership with the main campus in New York and local collaborators in Qatar.
  • Integrate and analyze multimodal datasets including genomics, metabolomics, imaging, and electronic medical records using state‑of‑the‑art machine learning approaches, particularly modern deep learning techniques.
  • Drive cross‑functional collaboration by partnering with faculty, research teams, and institutional entities that can benefit from AI‑driven methodologies.
  • Collaborate across Cornell campuses, such as the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine for Precision Medicine, to support joint research initiatives and shared scientific objectives.


Education & Experience


Must Have:

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D.
  • Relevant postdoctoral experience
  • A record of excellence in scholarship and strong high-impact publications as lead author.
  • A consistent record of grant support from government and private funding agencies.
  • Prior experience working with international consortia (e.g., DREAM challenges, ICGC, TCGA, etc.) is desirable.

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation (QF). The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at the university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated Six-Year Medical Program that incorporates pre-medical and medical studies and leads to the Cornell University M.D. degree. Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) who hold Weill Cornell appointments. Enrollment has grown rapidly from 25 first-year pre-medical students in the fall of 2002 to over 300 students from more than 30 countries today.
