Protection Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Protection Engineer to join their engineering team for high-voltage substation projects(46KV and above) in Oman.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review of Current Transformer (CT) and Voltage Transformer (VT) requirements and perform sizing calculations as per the approved Single Line Diagram (SLD).
• Evaluate Protection & Metering Diagrams (PMD) to ensure alignment with OETC philosophies and applicable standards.
• Conduct thorough reviews of Block Logic Diagrams (BLD) to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Review relay lists to verify compliance with OETC standards and project-specific requirements.
• Coordinate with Control & Relay Panel (CRP) builders and review scheme drawings for conformance to technical and client specifications.
• Review and validate relay setting calculations, ensuring alignment with system protection requirements.
• Represent the client during protection testing activities, ensuring adherence to all protocols and test plans.
• Liaise effectively with OETC protection engineers and staff for securing required approvals and for smooth execution of testing and commissioning processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in protection engineering, commissioning, and testing of substations and electrical systems.
• Should have experience working with high-voltage substation systems (mandatory)
• Strong knowledge of OETC protection standards, philosophies, and testing procedures.
• Hands-on experience in relay coordination, protection schemes, and substation automation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, logic diagrams, and electrical schematics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Minimum 2 no's of any approved relay manufacturer advance protection relay configuration module or Level 3 protection Approval.
• Must be currently residing in Oman or should be physically available for interview in Oman. Visa Visit may be provided to candidates outside Oman.
• Prior OETC approval is highly preferred and will be an added advantage.
