About the Opportunity

Our client is a respected digital growth consultancy and web development agency headquartered in Melbourne, with a growing national and international footprint. They are recognised leaders in CMS and eCommerce delivery and they are looking for a CMS Tech Lead to anchor their Melbourne-based capability and lead a team of 6 developers.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with roughly 60–70% coding, architecture and delivery, and 30–40% leading, mentoring and collaborating with designers, strategists and clients.

The Role

You will be the go-to technical expert for complex / enterprise CMS builds, owning the architecture, quality and delivery of Webflow & Shopify solutions for SaaS, eCommerce and enterprise clients. You'll also shape how the team scales and set the standard for CMS excellence.

You may already be a Team Lead or you may be a Senior looking to take the next step in your career.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Leadership & Delivery (60–70%)

• Architect, build and deliver Enterprise Webflow CMS projects — marketing sites, content hubs, multi-collection builds, custom logic, integrations and performance optimisation
• Build and customise Shopify and Shopify Plus solutions — theme development, Liquid templating, app integrations and checkout optimisation
• Deliver SharePoint front-end work — SPFx solutions, custom web parts and modern SharePoint experiences
• Solve complex CMS challenges: scalability, multi-language, dynamic content, API integrations (CRMs, marketing tools, analytics)
• Write clean, maintainable, production-grade HTML/CSS/JavaScript and establish coding standards across the team
• Work with headless CMS architectures (Contentful, Sanity, etc.) when projects require it

Team Leadership & Mentoring (30–40%)

• Lead a team of 6 developers (permanent and contract), from junior to mid-level specialists
• Set technical direction, build reusable component libraries, and establish best practices
• Mentor designers building in Webflow and upskill developers across CMS logic and integrations
• Manage contracted / freelance resources and ensure seamless collaboration
• Run sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives

Client & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with clients to translate business goals into technical CMS solutions
• Present technical recommendations and guide platform selection discussions
• Act as the technical voice in client meetings, pitches and workshops

What You Must Bring

Webflow CMS expertise is MANDATORY. This is not a role for someone who has used Webflow templates — we need real, production-level Webflow CMS architecture experience.

• Strong, demonstrable Webflow CMS production experience — Collections, CMS logic, dynamic content binding, custom code (HTML/CSS/JS), interactions, performance and SEO
• 5+ years in front-end development and CMS implementation (agency or in-house)
• Shopify theme and app experience — Liquid templating, app integrations, Shopify Plus a bonus
• Team leadership or mentoring experience — leading small teams, running code reviews, setting standards
• Agency experience or fast-paced client delivery environment

Nice to Have:

• Webflow Enterprise or Shopify Plus project experience
• Headless CMS (Contentful, Sanity, Prismic) and JAMstack architecture
• SharePoint front-end development — modern SharePoint, SPFx, custom web parts
• API integrations — REST, GraphQL, Zapier, Make, custom middleware
• CRO, analytics and marketing automation tools (HubSpot, Marketo, GTM, Segment)
• Experience managing offshore or distributed teams
