Job Description – Kotlin Spring Boot Microservices Developer

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Kotlin Spring Boot Developer to design and build scalable Java-based microservices. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud-native development, with a focus on building resilient, event-driven systems deployed in Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable microservices using Kotlin and Spring Boot
• Build RESTful APIs and backend services following microservices architecture
• Implement event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka
• Develop highly available and resilient distributed systems
• Integrate microservices with internal and external applications
• Deploy and manage applications in Azure-based environments
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Ensure code quality, performance optimization, and security best practices
• Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD and containerized deployments
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide long-term solutions

Required Skills

• Strong experience in Kotlin and Java-based microservices
• Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem
• Experience implementing Microservices architecture
• Strong working knowledge of Apache Kafka
• Experience building REST APIs and backend services
• Cloud experience with Azure / Azure Local
• Understanding of containerization and distributed systems
• Experience with Git-based version control systems
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture patterns
• Experience with reactive programming (WebFlux)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
