About Scape
Scape is a creative platform where players and creators come together to build, share, and explore interactive worlds. We are building both the platform itself and a set of internal experiences that define quality, direction, and best practices for the wider creator ecosystem.
UX and UI are core to Scape. They must scale across player-facing surfaces and creator tools, and support controlled customization while remaining usable, consistent, and robust.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to help define and build Scape’s UI/UX foundations. This is a hands-on, time-boxed engagement focused on designing modular, themeable UI systems that can scale across a creator-driven platform.
Creators should be able to customize parts of the UI within clear guardrails - for example seasonal themes, styling variants, or decorative elements - without breaking layout, usability, or platform standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced designer who enjoys systems thinking, close collaboration with engineering, and shipping real, production-ready solutions.
What you will do
- Design and own modular UI/UX systems for Scape, spanning in-game UI and creator-facing tools
- Define UI components, variants, states, and interaction rules that scale across many experiences
- Design for controlled customization, enabling theming and styling within fixed structural frames
- Create UX flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs ready for Unity implementation
- Build and document a UI component library with clear usage rules and constraints
- Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and performant in Unity
- Iterate quickly through in-engine testing and feedback
Requirements
- 7-10 years of professional experience in UI/UX design for games or complex interactive products
- Proven experience shipping UI/UX in Unity-based projects
- Strong experience designing modular UI systems, component libraries, and scalable design systems
- Experience designing UI that remains robust under user or creator customization
- Strong system-level thinking and ability to define clear rules and constraints
- Comfortable working as a contractor in a fast-moving, collaborative environment
Nice to have
- Experience with UGC platforms, creator tools, or live service products
- Familiarity with UI Toolkit or other highly reusable UI frameworks in Unity
- Experience producing clear UI documentation and technical handoff materials
Engagement details
- Contract
- Scope and priorities defined upfront, with room to adapt as the platform evolves
- Potential for extension depending on project needs and mutual fit
How we work
- Fully remote, collaborating primarily during CET working hours
- Small, senior team with high ownership and minimal bureaucracy
- Strong focus on iteration, clarity, and shipping
