Computational Biology Scientist to Moleculent

Moleculent
Sweden · Internship · Not Applicable

Are you passionate about transforming complex spatial biology data into actionable insights? Do you thrive in a cross-functional environment bridging experimental and computational teams? Moleculent is looking for a Computational Biology Scientist. Join us to contribute to cutting-edge technology that unveils new perspectives on human biology!

Moleculent is on an exciting mission to map cell communication at the molecular level in tissue, aiming to unlock radical new insights into human biology. This is a chance to join a focused and dedicated team with extensive experience in building successful life science companies and products.

The position is full-time and based at Moleculent’s headquarters in Solna, Stockholm.

Please don’t wait to submit your application. We review candidates on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the final application deadline.

Applicants must be eligible to work in Sweden without sponsorship.

JOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Computational Biology Scientist, you will play a key role in executing data analysis workflows for customer and internal validation projects. We’re open to hiring at either a junior or a more senior level for this position, and depending on experience, the role may focus on processing and delivering standardized reports (Scientist level) or take on broader responsibilities, including project design and biological interpretation (Senior level). You will work closely with wet-lab scientists, the Applications Team, and R&D to ensure high-quality, reliable data insights.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execute image preprocessing, cell segmentation, and spatial metrics extraction using established pipelines.
  • Compile and visualize results into standardized reports for internal use and customer delivery.
  • Ensure data traceability and compliance with Moleculent's data packaging standards.
  • Support customer pilots and internal applications projects with robust, reproducible data analyses.

For a senior profile, the role also includes:

  • Design and interpret analysis strategies to support applications development and pilot studies.
  • Collaborate on refining methods, troubleshooting, and prototyping new analysis metrics.
  • Present complex insights to internal and external stakeholders across technical domains.

QUALIFICATIONSTo fit this role well, you should hold an MSc or equivalent degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Fluency in both written and spoken English, along with strong computer skills, is essential. Experience in clearly and effectively presenting data—both in writing and in oral presentations—is a key requirement.

Additional qualifications include:

Scientist level:

  • Hands-on experience with image-based data analysis, preferably microscopy.
  • Familiarity with Python-based workflows and data visualization.
  • Strong attention to structure, version control, and consistency across datasets.
  • Comfortable delivering standardized outputs on schedule and supporting technical queries.

Senior level:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in computational biology, image analysis, or spatial omics.
  • Proficiency in Python and spatial single-cell analysis.
  • Able to design, execute, and interpret analysis workflows for complex datasets.
  • Skilled in summarizing insights for cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working across R&D, product, and commercial functions is a plus.

We are looking for candidates with a strong sense of team collaboration. You should be comfortable working cross-functionally and actively contributing to both fee-for-service (FFS) operations and internal exploratory projects. A strong willingness to continuously learn and grow scientifically is essential, as is the ability to thrive in diverse project environments and a collaborative team setting.

An operational mindset is equally critical, and you truly enjoy hands-on lab work. This includes confidence in executing well-defined workflows and consistently delivering standardized outputs on time.

Given our fast-paced environment, startup adaptability is highly valued. This means being open to evolving workflows, contributing to process development, maintaining clear documentation, and ensuring smooth handoffs between lab and data teams. Flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to ambiguity are key traits that support success in our dynamic setting.
