Backend Developer (Contract)

£250 per day (Outside IR35)

3 month initial contract

3 days per week

Remote (UK-based)

We’re supporting a fast-moving digital consultancy delivering projects into large enterprise clients, and they’re looking for a backend developer to support across multiple active engagements.

This isn’t a “sit back and code tickets” role - you’ll be working closely with stakeholders, engineers, and product teams to understand systems, unblock issues, and keep delivery moving.

What you’ll be doing

• Building and supporting backend services and APIs across live client environments
• Working across integrations, data flows, and system interactions
• Getting into the detail of how systems connect and where issues sit
• Supporting debugging, troubleshooting, and performance improvements
• Collaborating directly with stakeholders - chasing dependencies, clarifying requirements, and driving progress

What they’re looking for

• Experience building backend systems (Python, Node, or similar)
• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and data pipelines
• Comfortable working across multiple systems and environments
• Ability to investigate issues and think like a systems analyst
• Proactive mindset - someone who will pick things up and chase where needed, not wait for direction

Nice to have

• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines or deployment workflows
• Background working in consultancy or fast-paced delivery environments
