Firmware Engineer (Fixed-Term Contract – 6 Months)

SPX Aids to Navigation is looking for a hands-on Firmware Engineer to join our team on an initial 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a great opportunity to work on advanced communication and navigation aids, contributing to both new product development and existing platforms.

The Role

You will design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems, working across a 50/50 split of new development and existing code.

• Develop firmware for ARM Cortex (M0+/M4) and Renesas H8 processors
• Work primarily in bare-metal environments (approx. 75%) with some RTOS exposure
• Analyse and improve existing systems
• Create clear technical documentation and test plans
• Collaborate closely with systems, test, and electronics engineers

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in embedded systems development
• Proficiency in Embedded C
• Experience with ARM Cortex and/or Renesas H8
• Solid debugging and problem-solving skills
