About the Position

There is an immediate requirement for a talented senior Python developer to join their team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Engineer with a strong enterprise background to join a high-performing technology team. This role requires hands-on expertise across scalable application development, containerised deployments, distributed data platforms, and real-time streaming architectures.

The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, agile environment and demonstrate both technical depth and proactive ownership of deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based applications within an enterprise environment
• Deploy and manage applications using OpenShift
• Build and maintain real-time streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka
• Conduct thorough code reviews and adhere to Git-based development workflows
• Develop and optimise distributed SQL queries using Starburst/Trino
• Implement caching and high-performance data operations using Redis
• Integrate with object storage solutions (e.g., S3-compatible platforms)
• Collaborate within agile teams using JIRA for project tracking and workflow management
• Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute solutions that enhance team performance
• Take ownership of deliverables from design through to deployment

Requirements

• 7–8+ years’ experience in software development within enterprise-scale environments
• Strong Python programming skills with experience building and maintaining scalable systems
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift deployments
• Working knowledge of Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, real-time streaming pipelines)
• Strong SQL skills (querying, data analysis, performance optimisation)
• Experience with Starburst/Trino for distributed SQL processing
• Familiarity with S3-compatible storage solutions
• Hands-on experience with Redis for caching and high-performance data access
• Proficiency in Git-based workflows and conducting structured code reviews
• Experience working in Agile environments with JIRA
