Overview

A leading Irish organisation in the education and professional development sector is seeking an experienced Head of IT & Digital Transformation to provide strategic and operational leadership across its technology function. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on ensuring robust IT operations while driving digital innovation, automation, and data-led decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the organisation’s IT and digital transformation strategy aligned to business goals
• Lead the modernisation of systems, platforms, and digital tools
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and service quality
• Manage IT infrastructure, cloud services, and system integrations
• Lead cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance initiatives (e.g. GDPR, ISO standards)
• Establish strong IT governance, vendor management, and budget control
• Drive improvements in data management, reporting, and business insights
• Lead and develop the IT team, fostering a high-performance, service-focused culture
• Deliver key IT and digital projects on time and within budget

Requirements

• 7–10+ years’ experience in senior IT leadership roles
• Proven track record in IT operations and digital transformation delivery
• Strong experience across infrastructure, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity
• Experience developing IT strategy, governance frameworks, and managing vendors/budgets
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Desirable

• Experience in education, professional services, or public sector environments
• Exposure to enterprise systems (e.g. CRM, ERP, learning platforms)
• Familiarity with frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, or ISO 27001
• Relevant certifications (e.g. ITIL, PMP/PRINCE2, CISSP/CISM, cloud platforms)
