The Senior IP Network & Security Design and Implementation Engineer is accountable for the end-to-end design and deployment of secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions. These solutions span campus networks, WAN environments, data centres, wireless infrastructures, and security platforms.


This role is Dublin-based and requires on-site presence at the client’s city centre office at least two days per week and must have valid Garda Vetting.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including high-level and low-level designs, migration plans, test strategies, and deployment procedures.
  • Architect and deliver IP network solutions across LAN, WAN, and data centre environments, ensuring effective segmentation and connectivity.
  • Execute secure network implementations involving routing, switching, firewalling, and application delivery, including work during out-of-hours windows where required.
  • Take ownership of deployment stages such as configuration, system integration, cutover execution, validation, and operational handover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including solution architects, project managers, cloud specialists, and security stakeholders.


Key Skills:


  • Strong expertise in Cisco networking, including Catalyst, Nexus, ACI, ISR/ASR, and core protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, VXLAN, QoS, HA).
  • Proven experience designing and implementing LAN, WAN, and data centre network architectures, with exposure to SD-WAN.
  • Advanced knowledge of Fortinet security solutions, including FortiGate firewalls, HA, segmentation, NAT, VPNs, and centralised management tools.
  • Solid experience with Cisco wireless networks, including Catalyst 9800 WLCs, RF design, surveys, and secure authentication (802.1X, WPA3, ISE).
  • Hands-on expertise with F5 BIG-IP (LTM, GTM, ASM, GSLB), including load balancing, SSL offload, and resilient ADC design.
  • Strong foundation in core networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, AAA), with skills in troubleshooting, automation (Python/Ansible), and technical documentation.
