Job Description

We are recruiting a Senior Staff Software Engineer for our client in the wealthTech sector, offering an opportunity to shape the future of investment technology, drive strategic projects, guide architectural decisions, and inspire engineering teams to excel.

Responsibilities

• Define and share the long-term technical direction.
• Lead big projects from start to finish, making sure they are high quality and efficient.
• Make important architectural and technical choices that affect multiple teams.
• Diagnose and fix complex problems across different codebases when needed.
• Review code carefully to catch technical or design issues.
• Offer practical solutions across teams, including contributing to open-source fixes if necessary.
• Guide and mentor engineers by teaching how to solve problems, not just giving answers.
• Work closely with engineering managers and product leaders as a trusted technical advisor.
  
  

Profile / Requirements

• Ability to quickly understand and fix issues in unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience troubleshooting bugs and performance problems in JVM environments and relational databases.
• Ability to diagnose issues in unfamiliar infrastructures, including on-premises systems like banks.
• Strong technical judgment to spot risks and opportunities in designs and implementations.
• Deep understanding of software engineering, system design, and distributed systems.
• Clear communication skills, able to explain complex issues to different audiences.
• Experience mentoring and helping engineering teams grow.
  
  

Bonus Skills

• Experience leading large technical initiatives across teams.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad), network middleware (Consul, Kong, Istio), and observability tools (Prometheus, Jaeger, Grafana).
• Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Flexibility to support critical issues, including occasional overtime.
