Vice President – AI Platform Owner

🤖 About the Role:

As Vice President - AI Platform Owner, you will own and lead RAKBANK’s enterprise AI platform that powers GenAI and advanced AI capabilities across the bank. This is a role with real ownership - responsible for production platforms operating at scale, serving real customers, and meeting enterprise‑grade risk and regulatory requirements. You will lead the technology foundation for AI enablement, acting as the single point of accountability across cloud and on‑prem environments, while ensuring AI capabilities are secure, scalable, cost‑effective, and reusable. Balancing rapid innovation with stability and governance, you will establish the AI platform as a core, executive‑sponsored enterprise capability and partner closely with senior business and technology leaders to embed AI as a strategic, bank‑wide driver of impact.

🧠 What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll sit at the intersection of AI strategy, platform engineering, and enterprise execution.

• Own the end‑to‑end AI platform strategy, roadmap, architecture, and operating model
• Define and evolve the AI platform vision aligned with enterprise technology and business strategy
• Make critical build vs buy vs partner decisions for AI models, platforms, and tooling
• Enable modern AI paradigms including GenAI, agentic AI, AI‑augmented development, and AIOps
• Own the full lifecycle of LLMs and SLMs across open‑source and commercial ecosystems
• Lead model selection, evaluation, onboarding, fine‑tuning, and retirement decisions
• Oversee prompt strategies, embeddings, vector databases, and inference optimisation
• Enable a multi‑model, multi‑provider strategy across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments
• Lead deployment and operations of the AI platform across public cloud and private/on‑prem infrastructure
• Ensure high availability, resilience, scalability, secure data handling, and data isolation
• Ensure compliance with data residency, privacy, and regulatory requirements
• Integrate AI platforms with core banking systems, APIs, event platforms, data platforms, and digital channels
• Partner with business, operations, risk, compliance, and technology teams to identify and prioritise high‑impact AI use cases
• Enable rapid experimentation without compromising enterprise controls
• Provide reusable AI services, APIs, and platform components
• Support AI adoption across customer experience, operations, automation, risk, compliance, fraud, and engineering productivity
• Own run operations including monitoring, incidents, performance, SLAs, and model quality
• Manage platform change including enhancements, new model onboarding, and capability upgrades
• Establish clear ownership, escalation, and support models
• Own AI platform cost management across model usage, compute, storage, networking, tooling, and licensing
• Embed Responsible AI principles into the platform by design
• Implement explainability, auditability, logging, and traceability controls
• Manage relationships with cloud providers, AI vendors, open‑source communities, and system integrators
• Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and assess their impact on the bank
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing AI platform engineering organisation
• Act as a senior AI technology evangelist across RAKBANK

• Experience managing cost, performance, and reliability at scale
• Strong executive‑level stakeholder management and decision‑making capability
• Ability to translate business strategy into scalable AI platform capabilities

🛠 Skills:

• 10+ years’ experience in platform, cloud, or enterprise engineering roles with senior leadership exposure
• Hands‑on experience with LLM‑based platforms and AI tooling
• Experience deploying and operating AI platforms in cloud and/or on‑prem environments
• Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, data platforms, and event‑driven architectures
• Deep understanding of LLM architectures, prompt engineering, embeddings, and vector databases
• Experience with AI model lifecycle management, MLOps and LLMOps
• Experience in banking or highly regulated industries (preferred)
• Exposure to AI governance, model risk, and regulatory frameworks (preferred)
• Experience with agentic AI or autonomous workflows (preferred)
• Background in developer platforms or internal product platforms (preferred)
