Reporting Analyst – Power BI & Vertica

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Reporting Analyst with strong SQL expertise to design, develop, and maintain operational and management reports using data from our Warehouse Management System (WMS – LFS). The role will focus on building high-quality Power BI dashboards, writing optimized SQL queries, and supporting data-driven decision-making across logistics and warehouse operations.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Intermediate proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and advanced analytics is required.

• Experience working with Pandas, NumPy, API integrations, and database connectivity.
• Ability to build automation scripts for recurring reporting tasks.

Python (Intermediate Level – Data Analytics & Automation):

• Strong working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib/Seaborn for data manipulation and visualization.
• Ability to write reusable scripts for data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and validation.
• Experience connecting Python to databases (Vertica, SQL Server, REST APIs).
• Knowledge of using Python within Power BI (Python visuals / data transformation).
• Basic understanding of automation scripting and process optimization.
• Exposure to Jupyter Notebook or similar development environments.
• Ability to implement basic statistical models and forecasting using Python libraries.

Data Manipulation and Cleaning:

• Proficient in collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing data from multiple sources, using Power Query for data transformation.
• Skilled in querying data from databases using SQL and integrating it into Power BI.
• Strong hands-on experience in SQL (complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, performance tuning).

Data Modeling in Power BI:

• Expertise in building and optimizing data models within Power BI, focusing on efficient relationships, calculated columns, and measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
• Knowledge of star schema and snowflake schema modeling to improve performance and usability in Power BI reports.

Advanced DAX for Analytics:

• Mastery of DAX functions for advanced calculations, such as time intelligence, ranking, dynamic filtering, and performance optimization in reports.
• Experience in dynamic measures, KPIs, and predictive modeling within Power BI to support business forecasting.

Statistical and Analytical Thinking:

• Strong foundation in statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis) applied through Power BI.
• Experience with R and Python integration within Power BI for more advanced statistical analysis and machine learning, if needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Desirable Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.

Work Experience: Proven experience (5+Yeras) as a Data Analyst/BI Developer, or similar role, preferably in a large-scale organization or within the logistics industry.

Technical skills required to perform the role:

• 4-7 years of experience in data visualization using Power BI.
• Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and Power Automate.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Familiarity with data modeling and visualization best practices.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience to design Dashboard to be compatible with Mobile Devices
• Expertise in extracting the data from REST APIs to Power BI Visualization Tool
• Strong knowledge in understanding of Database Concepts and Ability to write SQL Queries
• Able to Develop Data Models to identify potential opportunities and risks using the data sets
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing trends or patterns and reports.
• Strong hands-on experience in SQL (complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, performance tuning).
