Role Overview:

• Location: Hybrid – Cheltenham - Once per month onsite
• Package: £70,000 – £90,000
• Industry: Secure Software / Defence Technology

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Designing and developing high-quality Android applications using Kotlin for secure, real-world deployments
• Building scalable, maintainable code using modern frameworks and architectural patterns
• Integrating mobile apps with backend services (APIs, messaging systems, secure endpoints)
• Enhancing performance across battery, memory, and responsiveness for demanding environments
• Embedding security best practices across the full development lifecycle
• Contributing to architecture decisions and evolving mobile design standards
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, security, and cloud
• Supporting code reviews and driving consistent engineering quality
• Producing clear technical documentation and supporting delivery in Agile teams

Main Skills Needed:

• Strong commercial Android development experience, primarily with Kotlin
• Solid grasp of modern Android architecture (e.g. MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture)
• Experience integrating APIs and handling data via tools like Retrofit or similar
• Understanding of secure mobile development practices (encryption, authentication, secure storage)
• Familiarity with testing approaches across unit, UI, and integration levels
• Experience with build tools and development environments such as Gradle and Android Studio
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and Agile delivery
• Eligibility to obtain SC clearance
