We’re seeking an experienced Backend Application Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems in a modern, cloud-based environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong .NET expertise and a passion for building resilient microservices architectures using modern DevOps practices.

You’ll work closely with product, platform, and cloud engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable backend services. This engagement requires solid engineering fundamentals, strong database knowledge, and the ability to contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

Backend Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using .NET.

• Build scalable and maintainable microservices-based applications.

• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following best practices.

• Contribute to API design and backend system integration.

Databases & Data Stores

• Design and work with OLTP databases, with CloudSQL preferred.

• Develop and optimise solutions using PostgreSQL.

• Implement caching and performance improvements using Redis.

• Ensure data integrity, performance, and reliability across services.

DevOps & CI/CD

• Work with Git-based version control and branching strategies.

• Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment.

• Support automated testing, releases, and environment consistency.

Cloud & Microservices

• Develop applications for cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Support deployment and operation of services in cloud-native environments.

• Apply best practices for scalability, fault tolerance, and secure application design.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong proficiency in .NET backend development

• Experience with Git and CI/CD build pipelines

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and Redis

• Knowledge of OLTP databases (CloudSQL preferred)

• Practical experience designing and implementing microservices

• Experience working on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

• Good communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale or enterprise environments

• Exposure to containerisation and cloud-native tooling

• Familiarity with performance tuning and backend optimisation

• Experience working in agile delivery teams
