Australia · Full-time · Not Applicable

MECCA has a large and growing focus in the digital space, and we are looking for a Junior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud & Platform team. This role is instrumental in supporting and evolving our cloud infrastructure, contributing to a secure, reliable, and scalable AWS environment that powers exceptional digital experiences for our customers and internal teams.

The Role You Could Play:

Reporting to the Cloud Engineering Lead, you will play a hands-on role in supporting MECCA’s cloud infrastructure and operations while developing your skills in cloud engineering within a fast-paced, product-led environment. You will:

  • Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability and scalability
  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu), building capability across multi-environment deployments
  • Participate in cloud operations and incident response, following runbooks and contributing to post-incident reviews
  • Monitor system health using observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch) and assist in improving alerting and dashboards
  • Assist with CI/CD pipelines and automation, troubleshooting issues and writing scripts to streamline operational tasks
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation, operational procedures, and playbooks to support knowledge sharing and consistency across the team

What You Will Bring:

You are an early-career cloud engineer who is curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a collaborative environment. Ideally, you will bring:

  • Foundational knowledge of AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, IAM) and cloud networking concepts
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and version control tools like GitHub
  • Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and understanding of CI/CD concepts
  • Familiarity with observability tools and an awareness of SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, incident management)
  • Strong communication skills, a service mindset, and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers

Your Life At MECCA

Whilst we are singularly focused on our #CustomerFirst mantra, we know that wouldn’t be possible without an incredible team that is guided by our MECCA values and motivated each and every day to be solutions focused, innovative, collaborative and adaptable, and have a bit of fun along the way!

Some of our other team member benefits include:

  • Professional development programs and first-class digitised learning offering
  • Health and well-being initiatives
  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Access to bonus and incentive programs
  • Access to quarterly product allowance
  • Generous discount to spoil yourselves and your immediate family, as well as a generous product allowance, subject to company policy

There are also so many other ways in which you’ll be made to feel part of the MECCA story as we love to celebrate, surprise and delight our team along the way.
