We are seeking a forward‑looking 

Product Manager, Transportation 

to drive the success of our Transportation product portfolio and play a key role in advancing our two Business Units at Exel.


As the Product Manager, you will lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of products within the Transport focus area. You will represent the product line both internally and externally, ensuring competitive positioning, technical excellence, and commercial success. Your key responsibility is to enable the sales of the product portfolio of Transport and the ownership of the product strategy.


You will collaborate closely with the sales Business Development Managers for the focus area, Application Engineering, and Operations to transform market insights and opportunities into scalable and profitable product offerings. The position reports to the Director Product Management, Engineered Solutions Business Unit, and may require regular customer interactions and participation in industry events. Depending on the potential candidate, the location for position would be in China or Europe.


Key Responsibilities:


Market & Customer Insight

  • Monitor industrial market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities in Transport segments by engaging directly with customers, attending trade shows, and collaborating with the Business Development Managers.
  • Identify opportunities for new products, enhancements, or vertical/forward integration.


Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Enable sales: Business and technical support to sales projects, recognize the growth drivers and enablers.
  • Set Vision & Roadmap: Define product vision and long-term strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and market competitiveness.
  • Drive Development: Prioritize product initiatives based on ROI, technical feasibility, and customer needs, collaborating with Sales and Engineering.
  • Optimize Portfolio & Pricing: Streamline offerings for scalability and set standard pricing in cooperation with Business Development and Sales Management.


Technical & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure the product portfolio adheres to all applicable industrial standards, collaborating with Engineering to define technical specifications, design requirements, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Lead and coordinate the development of new products, overseeing the process from initial concept through to production readiness.


Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Application Engineering, Technical Sales, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to enable cost‑effective production and product performance.
  • Provide technical product knowledge to support Sales and Marketing.
  • Lead product launches in collaboration with Sales Management, the Business Development Managers, and Marketing.
  • Contribute insights to Research for long‑term product development.


Lifecycle Management

  • Manage products from concept through end-of-life, ensuring performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct data‑driven evaluations of product performance and portfolio profitability.
  • Oversee technical product data management and ensure documentation accuracy.


Desired Skills & Competencies:

  • MUST - Transportation market and industry experienced person.
  • Minimum M.Sc. or B.Sc. in engineering or related field, with 3–7 years’ experience in product management or technical roles in industry.
  • Background in product management, technical development, and customer-facing roles.
  • Demonstrated strategic, analytical, and leadership abilities, with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Results-oriented, able to lead and influence across functions, with strong technical understanding of industrial systems, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Expertise in P&L drivers, pricing strategies, cost structures, and business case development, with a focus on prioritizing features according to ROI, technical feasibility, and customer impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, cross-cultural awareness, and effective stakeholder management.
  • Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Chinese is considered a valuable asset.
