Backend Developer (m/f/d)

(Full-time, permanent position, start immediately, location Berlin)

Key responsibilities

• Development of backend solutions for various applications, including corporate websites, website/app backends and API interfaces
• Integration of new features into existing applications
• Object-oriented programming using PHP 8 and NodeJS/Typescript
• Database design and optimization with MySQL 8
• Conceptualization, planning, and implementation of new modules/features for a central/headless CMS
• Rewriting specific endpoints into microservices
• Involvement in new developments: from concept and implementation to testing, code reviews, and deployments
• Ongoing optimization, enhancement, and maintenance of existing backend systems
• Evaluation and adoption of new technologies

Required skills & qualifications

• Completed degree in Business Informatics, Media Informatics, or a comparable professional qualification
• Experience in backend development with PHP (CakePHP optional) and/or NodeJS/Typescript
• Ability to understand and work within an existing codebase (NodeJS or PHP) to grasp full data flows
• Strong analytical skills and a structured, independent, and careful working style
• Team-oriented mindset
• Solid understanding of MVC architectures and API design
• Experience with Git for version control
• Experience with containerization with Docker
• Fluent English, both written and spoken, is required, German skills would be a plus but are not mandatory.
