Senior AI & Computer Vision Engineer (UAV)
Luxembourg | Full-time | On-site / Hybrid
Salary - Up to €110k
We’re working with a fast-growing, ambitious tech company building next-generation autonomous drone systems for real-world, safety-critical missions. As the AI Algorithm Engineer, you’ll design and deploy real-time perception, navigation, and control algorithms that power autonomous flight in complex, GPS-denied and contested environments.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves both theory and production code — you’ll take algorithms from whiteboard to flight test.
Responsibilities
🧠 Computer Vision & Perception
- Design and implement real-time detection, classification, tracking, and visual SLAM algorithms for autonomous navigation in GNSS-denied environments.
- Optimize deep learning models (YOLO, Transformers, CNNs — or develop proprietary models) for edge deployment on embedded platforms (NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm RB5) under tight latency, power, and memory constraints.
- Develop vision-based pose estimation, optical flow, feature tracking, and change detection algorithms for mission-critical use cases.
🛩️ State Estimation & Flight Control
- Design and implement Kalman filters (EKF, UKF), complementary filters, and sensor fusion pipelines combining IMU, GPS, vision, and RF positioning.
- Develop motion prediction, trajectory estimation, and adaptive filtering techniques for dynamic flight conditions, sensor degradation, and environmental uncertainty.
- Build control-theoretic estimators for target tracking, collision avoidance, and swarm coordination.
🔧 Integration & Validation
- Integrate algorithms with flight control units and companion computers.
- Benchmark performance in simulation (Gazebo, MATLAB/Simulink) and HIL/HITL testbeds.
- Validate algorithms through field trials; analyze telemetry and KPIs (accuracy, latency, robustness) and iterate improvements.
- Document algorithm designs, performance characteristics, and interfaces; support certification and compliance activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in robotics, computer vision, controls, or applied ML.
- Proven experience implementing real-time algorithms in production systems.
- Solid foundations in estimation theory, sensor fusion, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with deep learning for perception (YOLO, CNNs, Transformers).
- Comfortable working with embedded platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm RB5).
- Strong C++ and/or Python skills; experience with ROS/ROS2 is a plus.
- Experience with simulation, HIL/HITL, and field testing of autonomous systems.
- Bonus points for experience in safety-critical or certified systems (aviation, automotive, defense, robotics).
Why Join?
- Work on real-world autonomous systems — not just research demos.
- Direct impact on products flying in complex, high-stakes environments.
- Fast-paced, high-ownership environment with room to shape the tech roadmap.
- Competitive compensation and benefits in Luxembourg.
- Small, ambitious team with serious technical depth.
